Elsewhere some Grey Heron youngsters are back to revisit their birth place, and whilst it was only four months ago, the birds seem very worldly wise already.
The Little Grebes have started nest building (again?) though a little out of photo range unfortunately but one of the pair did venture a little closer to the hide than usual. So just as the Great-Crests come to term the Dabchicks will be kicking off the next installment in the never ending life and death saga...whoopee!!

I'm enjoying this little drama you are bringing to us - and I LOVE the Little Grebe. Thanks for sharing.
I'll tell you ...it sure does look like a lonely existence and the amount of space looks quite limited! Good thing these birds don't know about 'pubs' - they may not be so faithful to their eggs ;-)
What are you trying to say BG? There WILL be more bird stuff and less PUBS but you'll have to be patient. In the meantime the grebes have hatched today and I will do my best to bring you some pictures - providing I can drag myself away from you know where that is!
Oh Good! Baby Grebes. I can't wait.
Well...you made me laugh right out loud again! (if the shoe fits) but really...I was thinking about those poor birds. Maybe it just looks small in the pictures but if I were a female grebe and had to be trapped in that 'wee bit' of space until I laid the eggs...sat on the eggs...and then they hatched..etc. I WOULD be outta there and at the pub every night! I wasn't really thinking about you and the pub ;-)
I can't wait to see those babies (see we poor women are all alike - it's a love/hate thing - we don't want to be trapped with the babies...yet we can't WAIT to see them...go figure)! And by the way...you can spend as much time in the pub as you like...after all...you don't have any eggs to sit on ;-)
